| I need to update this more often. I have been working at Fairmount Elementary School for about 7 months now. It has its ups and downs, with good days and bad days, but I love it. I am currently working with 4th and 5th graders in the afternoon. I also recently quit Shop N Save so that I can work full time at Vacation Station. In the mornings I have been working with pre-school and I love it so much. My oldest step-sister got engaged two weekends ago and is planning to get married on Sept 5, 09. I have one week left of cycle break at work (one week of 40 hour weeks), then back to 32. Yep, that is my life right now, work work work!

| - Mary Jane ShoesHey All!!!
I know it has been forever since I last left a message on here, but my life has been very crazy...but not necessarily the crazy I wanted, if you know what I mean. I have been working at Shop N Save since graduation in Dec of 06 and I have also been working as a substitute teacher in the Wentzville School District. But as of last week, I was hired in the Francis Howell School District to work at their before, after, and during cycle break program there. I will be there for after school and during the cycle break (when schools go year round they take breaks periodically throughout the school year) I will be doing full time shifts for the times I don't know yet. I am just waiting to hear back from them on when I can start, gotta go through all the paperwork first. I don't need a degree in education for this job, but I will be writing and planning lessons for the group of children I will be working with and that is a step up from subbing because I will be free to do more of my own thing rather than follow a set plan that someone else has set up for the day.
Anywho, just thought you all should know the news and take it how you will, I am excited about this opportunity. It may only be for a while, cross your fingers, because if I get offered a teaching job I will most definitely take that over this job. It is at least for the summertime.

| My goodness, has it really been this long since I posted last? Well, I have been extremely busy with student teaching and graduation and now work, and now paying back student loans, and well you get the point. I have entered the real world. Starting this past Saturday I received a higher education with a BS in Education-Early Childhood. I am still waiting to hear back on my second Praxis test scores for the upper elementary grades. Some of the things I was teaching the third graders really helped me on the exam, but we will see just how much in about another week or so.
Student teaching went well and I can't wait to start substitute teaching in the local area schools to help build my experience and reputation within these schools. As soon as I can, I will be requesting a transcript and letters of recommendation for my applications to teaching. Hopefully, God willing, I will have a job lined up for the following school year.
That is all for now, but I saw how long it has been and thought it was time to do an update.

| I know you all are curious how my student teaching is going thus far so............
I am teaching in the Hazelwood School District for the first half...I don't really want to say what school because I am trying to remain discrete about the school to protect the students. I am in a Kindergarten classroom with eight in the morning and ten in the afternoon. That's right, they have morning and afternoon Kindergarten still. It is a small class and it is extremely enjoyable. The kids are really easy and are transitioning nicely into their first school experience. I expect to have more kids come after this weekend because most parents expect school to start after Labor Day like they used to do when they were in school.
Well, I have started taking over the morning/beginning stuff, like the calendar, weather, days we have been in school, the Pledge of Allegiance and a song about the stripes on the flag. We also count to 100 every day, practice numbers on flashcards, cover the shapes, and sing a song with movement. Then we go over the letters and the sounds they make. Finally, I start their Math lessons. Some of you are probably thinking, what do Kindergarteners learn for math...well, it is simply learning to write and recognize the numbers. They have learned and practiced 1-6 so far. 7,8, and 9 will be covered next week. I have been evaluated once already, and got a lot of constructive criticism back from my cooperating teacher. Next week, my SEMO supervisor is coming to observe me in the afternoon on Wednesday...YAY!!! No, just kidding, I am not looking forward to it, but I know it will be fine. Next Thursday I am starting to take over reading as well. This is basically the same as math, recognition of the letters and learning to write them, as well as the sounds they make.
So, there you go, that is what I have been doing so far in student teaching. If you have questions feel free to ask or email me I can hopefully answer them....

| So, this weekend I went to see Tyler, but before I left, my dad came by to give me a present....A NEW CAR!!!! That's right, I am no longer driving the 91 Honda Civic Hatchback that has no air conditioning...I am now driving a 2000 Honda Civic HX (Silver).
This weekend I saw a movie with Tyler, and his little sister and her boyfriend. We saw Lady in the Water by M. Night Shyamalan. It was more funny than scary, but I would have to say this is one of his best, up there with Signs and The Sixth Sense.
Well, anyways, I just wanted to relay a few feelings...I am feeling very stressed about the upcoming student teaching...I am extremely worried that I am going to do something wrong and fail...I know these are rediculous feelings but I can't seem to shake them...they are keeping me awake at night and no matter what I do to try and make them go away they seem to come back...it's not that I don't think I am going to be a good teacher, but I am afraid of making a mistake that shouldn't be made at the level I am at...I am graduating in December and I should be ready for the world, but everything is telling me that I am not ready for the world, or the world isn't ready for me...Heck, if my friend can't get a good job with a higher GPA than me, what is in store for me? I am not really looking for responses from others, though they are welcome, because I know you all have faith that I will be just fine, I just need to do some soul searching and fast...August starts tomorrow, leaving me 22 days to deal with my issues.....
